Many of us love technology, so we also love EV cars. but we can not find a useful EV car for daylife use. it is too slow, it can only run 75 miles for one change. because they can not find a suitable EV car in the market, they try to do it themself. they often buy an old car, take out the engine, and then add an electric motor and rechargable batteries. this idea is good, but the donor they use is often too old, make in 90s, enven in 70s. this will reduce the usability of the converted car.

The EV car or the converted EV car should be as new as a new car. but the question is that we can not convert a new gas car to EV car. there is not enough space for the electric motor and batteries. so it looks more practical to buy a new hybrid car and then add an extra battery. I am plan to buy a toyota prius and convert it to plug-in hybrid, or even to add a solar system to it. it must be very cool.

The price of gas is continuingly rising, also we will run out of gas oneday. No question, with the development of the battery technology electric vehicle will be popular in the future. in the future, we go to the "gas station" not for gas but for changing batteries. there are some rechargable batteries that can be recharged in several minutes, but the price of these batteries are high.

at present, another shortcome of the electric vehicle is the range that the car can run with one charge, it is about 75-110 miles. this is much shorter than regular gas car.

also, most the electric vehicle that is produced at present are neigbour vehicle which have lower speed, not more than 25 miles per hour. the faster electric vehicles are often for sports only. and the price is very high.

the hybrid car is the best choice at present, it can run at the same speed and distance as the regular gas car, at the same time it consume much less gas. the most famours hybrid car is Toyota prius. it can run solely on battery for about 10 miles. Toyota is trying to make this distance longer for their next generation hybrid car. the plug-in hybrid will be better than bybrid car, the plug-in hybrid car can be charged by pluy in the main power outlet, so it can run on the battery only for sometime.

Some companis make this even further, they install a solar cell on the top of the hybrid car, this solar cell can provide 300 watts of power. this is certainly a good way. but at present , if you add a solar system, it may break the wanrantee for the car. the consumer do this at their own risk.
